BBB Announces QC Integrity Award Winners
Three Iowa businesses, one not-for-profit organization and five high school seniors were honored for their integrity at the Better Business Bureau Annual Integrity Awards luncheon April 2, 2009 at the Bettendorf Holiday Inn. The 2009 Award winning companies are outstanding examples of integrity. These are the organizations who exemplify the BBB’s mission of promoting, through self-regulation, the highest standards of business ethics and conduct. United Services by R.G. Iossi, Thompson Family RV and Tri-City Electric Co. were honored with Business Integrity Awards. River Music Experience, a not-for-profit organization, was also recognized for its integrity. The Integrity Awards were established in 1993 to recognize those firms whose business practices and related activities exemplify the Better Business Bureau’s mission and principles. To date, more than 60 businesses have been honored by the BBB.

BBB Alert: Deceptive Auto-Warranty Solicitations Plague Consumers Nationwide
The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers to be extremely wary of telemarketing calls and mailers which claim their auto warranty had or is about to expire. BBB advises that the deceptive solicitations could persuade car owners to purchase an extended auto service contract of questionable value. BBB has seen a considerable spike in both complaints and inquiries from consumers who state that they received mailers or high-pressure telemarketing calls claiming their warranty was about to expire. Complaints against Auto Warranty Processing Services rose by more than 40 percent over the prior year. In 2008, more than 140,000 consumers across the country contacted their BBB to confirm the legitimacy of these companies.
